The book of Isaiah was written by the prophet Isaiah. It records the vision God gave Isaiah, son of Amoz, "concerning
Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah" (Isa. 1:1).
Uzziah reigned as king of Judah 52 years (810-758 B.C.) (2 Chron. 26:3); Jotham 16 years (758-742 B.C.) (2 Chron. 27:1); Ahaz 16 years (742-726 B.C.) (2 Chron. 28:1); and Hezekiah 29 years (726-697 B.C.) (2 Chron. 29:1). Their rule began in 810 B.C and ended in 697 B.C., lasting a total of 113 years. It was during these years that Isaiah had his vision. Isaiah made several prophesies about Jesus in his vision. One of the most prominent of them is found in chapter 53 which describes how the Son of God would be a sacrifice for mankind.
